How to play
- Cars approach a single shared intersection continuously from all four directions.
- Use the arrow keys (or WASD) to grant right-of-way to one lane at a time — only that lane may enter the intersection.
- Switching to a lane while another car is still crossing causes a crash and ends the run.
- Leaving a waiting car stuck too long at the stop line also ends the run — the wait timer shows as amber, then red.
Strategy & tips
- Watch every lane at once, not just the active one — a car turning red while you are focused elsewhere is the most common way runs end.
- Switch lanes proactively before a car reaches a critical wait, rather than reacting only once it starts flashing red.
- Traffic spawns faster as your score climbs, so a rotation rhythm that works early will need to tighten up later.
- When two lanes are both getting urgent, prioritize whichever has waited longer — a fresh arrival can usually wait one more cycle.
FAQ
How do you play Gridlock?
Use the arrow keys or WASD to grant right-of-way to one lane (N/S/E/W) at a time. Only cars in the active lane may enter the intersection.
What ends a run?
Either a crash (switching lanes while a car is still crossing the intersection) or a timeout (a waiting car left too long at the stop line).
Does the game ever end on its own?
No — Gridlock is an endless survival run. Your score is how many vehicles you safely processed before a crash or timeout.
