How to play
- Tap one of your pieces to see every legal move highlighted, then tap a square to move.
- Play against the computer — pick your colour and Easy, Medium or Hard — or pass and play with a friend.
- Only legal moves are allowed, including castling, en passant and pawn promotion.
- Put the enemy king in checkmate to win; a king with no legal move and no check is stalemate, a draw.
Strategy & tips
- Control the centre early and develop your knights and bishops before moving the same piece twice.
- Castle early to tuck your king safe and connect your rooks.
- Do not bring your queen out too soon — it becomes a target you waste moves saving.
- Look for undefended pieces and forks before every move, on both sides of the board.
- In the endgame, push your king forward — it becomes a strong attacking piece.
