Reversi

Wins 0

Tap a highlighted square to place a disc.

How to play

  • Place a disc so it traps a line of the computer’s discs between your new disc and another of yours.
  • Every trapped disc in that line flips to your colour — in any direction, including diagonals.
  • You can only play a move that flips at least one disc. If you have no move, your turn passes.
  • When neither side can move, whoever owns more discs wins.

Strategy & tips

  • Grab the corners — they can never be flipped, so they anchor your position.
  • Avoid the squares next to a corner early; they often hand the corner to your opponent.
  • Do not flip too many discs early; keeping fewer discs (mobility) mid-game is often stronger.
  • Aim to control edges, which are hard for the opponent to flip.
  • Late game, count carefully — a single move can flip a whole row and swing the majority.

FAQ

Is Reversi the same as Othello?

Yes. Reversi and Othello are the same disc-flipping strategy game on an 8x8 board.

Is it free?

Yes — it plays free in your browser with no download or sign-up, on desktop and mobile.

How do I win?

Own the most discs when neither player can make a legal move. Trapping and flipping lines is how you take the lead.
