About Solitaire

Solitaire — Klondike, to give it its proper name — is the card game that shipped on hundreds of millions of computers and quietly became the world's default way to pass a few minutes. You deal seven descending piles and work the whole deck down to four foundations, ace to king by suit, moving cards in alternating-colour runs and turning the stock as you go. It looks like luck, and a little of it is, but most games are won or lost on decisions: which foundation to feed, when to break up a pile to free a buried card, and when to leave a card exactly where it is. Not every deal is winnable, which is part of the appeal — a clean win feels earned. This version deals fresh games instantly, supports tap-to-move and drag, offers undo, tracks your time and score, and plays perfectly on phone or desktop. No account, no download — just shuffle and deal whenever you have a moment.

How to play

  • Build the four foundations up by suit, from Ace to King, to win.
  • On the tableau, stack cards down in alternating colours — a red six goes on a black seven.
  • Move a face-up run of cards together; an empty column can only start with a King.
  • Tap the stock to deal three cards to the waste, and recycle it when the stock runs out.

Strategy & tips

  • Turn over face-down tableau cards as early as you can — hidden cards are your biggest obstacle.
  • Do not rush every Ace and low card to the foundation; you may still need them to move cards around.
  • Try to empty a column so you have a free spot for a King and the run beneath it.
  • Play cards from the stock deliberately — you can cycle it, but each pass changes which cards line up.
  • Use undo to explore a line, and finish quickly once the board is all face-up for a higher score.

FAQ

Is this draw one or draw three?

Draw three — the stock deals three cards to the waste at a time, the classic desktop solitaire default. You can recycle the stock as many times as you like.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Tap a card to pick up its run and tap where to drop it, or double-tap to send a card to a foundation. It works on phones and tablets as well as desktop.

Can I undo a move?

Yes. Undo steps back through your moves, so you can back out of a line that is not working.

Is every deal winnable?

Not every Klondike deal is solvable — that is part of the classic game. Start a new deal any time, and use auto-finish once the board is all face-up.
