About Golf Solitaire
Golf Solitaire is the quick, moreish one you play in the gaps of a day. Seven columns of cards face a single waste pile, and you clear them by playing the exposed bottom card of any column onto the waste whenever it is one rank higher or lower — no suits or colors to track, just up or down. The pleasure is in the chains: a two onto a three onto a four onto a three, running a whole column off in one fluid sweep before you are forced to deal a fresh card from the limited stock. Classic Golf keeps Ace low so it will not wrap to King, which is where the risk lives — clear the taller columns first and spend a stock deal only when nothing on the board will play, or you will strand cards you needed. There is an around-the-corner toggle that lets Aces and Kings connect if you would like a gentler game. It runs free in your browser on any screen, no download or sign-up, and a deal takes a minute — which is exactly the problem.
How to play
- Play the bottom card of any column onto the waste if it is one rank higher or lower.
- Keep chaining cards up and down to clear whole columns in a run.
- When you are stuck, deal the next card from the stock to the waste.
- Clear every card from all seven columns to win the deal.
Strategy & tips
- Look for long up-and-down chains before you deal a new card from the stock.
- Clear the taller columns first so you do not get stuck with buried cards.
- The stock is limited, so spend each deal only when no column card will play.
- Turn on the around-the-corner option to let Aces and Kings connect for easier runs.
- Plan a couple of moves ahead — the order you clear cards in decides how far you get.
FAQ
How do you play Golf Solitaire?
Move the exposed bottom card of any column onto the waste pile when it is exactly one rank above or below the card there. Deal from the stock when no column card will play.
Do Aces and Kings connect?
In the classic game, no — Ace is low and does not wrap to King. There is an around-the-corner toggle that lets them connect if you prefer an easier game.
How do I win?
Clear every card from all seven columns before the stock runs out and you get stuck.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Tap a column card to play it onto the waste, or tap the stock to deal. It works on phones and tablets as well as desktop.
