About Equate
Equate does to arithmetic what the daily word games did to spelling: hide an eight-character equation — digits and the signs plus, minus, times, divide and one equals — and give you six tries to uncover it, with colored clues after every guess. Green means right symbol in the right spot, purple means right symbol in the wrong column, grey means it is not in there at all. The catch that trips newcomers is that a valid guess has to be true math — the left side must genuinely equal the right — and order of operations rules, so multiplication and division resolve before addition and subtraction and every division has to land on a whole number. Finding the equals column early is the key that unlocks the rest, and a purple digit is a hint to slide that same number to a different spot next time. Invalid equations are rejected without costing a guess, so you can probe freely. The same puzzle faces everyone daily, generated from the date, with a practice mode for endless boards.
