Mahjong Solitaire is the tile-matching classic — no dice, no opponents, just a hundred and forty-four ornate tiles stacked into a layout and a simple rule for taking them apart. A tile is free only when nothing rests on top of it and at least one long side, left or right, is open; tap a free tile and its twin to clear the pair, with the friendly wrinkle that any flower matches any flower and any season any season. It looks like a memory game and is really a game of order: the same pair can often be cleared two ways, and choosing the one that unblocks the most other tiles — especially the ones buried under the upper layers — is what carries you to an empty board. Keeping a matched pair in reserve rather than snapping up every match on sight is the habit that saves stuck games. Every deal here is built to be solvable from the start, though a wrong order can still strand you; unlimited Undo rewinds you to a position that can still be cleared, which beats the limited shuffle, since a reshuffled board is no longer guaranteed to clear.
