About Overload

Overload turns a chain reaction into a puzzle you set off with a single tap. Every cell can hold a charge equal to how many neighbours it has — two in a corner, three on an edge, four in the middle — and tapping adds one. The instant a cell fills, it overloads: it empties and pushes a charge into each neighbour at once, and any neighbour that fills up overloads too, so a well-chosen tap can roll across the board in cascading waves. You get a limited number of taps, and the scoring loves length — each overload in a single chain lifts the combo multiplier, so the goal is never to poke cells one at a time but to load the board quietly and then find the one tap that detonates everything. Centre cells reach the most neighbours and spread furthest, and clearing the entire grid in a run earns a Perfect Storm bonus. Free and instant in the browser, it saves your best score, and chasing that perfect board-sweeping cascade is where it hooks you.

How to play

  • Every cell’s capacity equals its number of neighbours (corner 2, edge 3, centre 4).
  • Tap a cell to add one charge.
  • The instant a cell reaches capacity it overloads: it resets and pushes energy into each neighbour.
  • Neighbours that fill up overload too, cascading in waves. You have a limited number of taps — score big chains.

Strategy & tips

  • Look for cells already near capacity next to other near-full cells — one tap can start a rolling chain.
  • Centre cells reach more neighbours, so a well-placed centre overload spreads furthest.
  • Set up a cascade rather than spending taps one at a time; the combo multiplier rewards big chains.
  • Aim to clear the whole board in a run for the Perfect Storm bonus.
  • Spend your last taps to trigger the biggest possible single cascade.

FAQ

What happens when a cell overloads?

It resets to zero and sends one charge to each orthogonal neighbour at once; any neighbour that reaches capacity then overloads too, chaining across the board.

Is Overload free?

Yes — it plays free in your browser with no download or sign-up, on desktop and mobile.

How do I score high?

Trigger long cascades — each overload in a single chain raises the combo multiplier, so one perfect tap can sweep the grid.
