About Zero Hour
Zero Hour is built on one wickedly elegant idea: the number on each tile is both its point value and its fuse. Every tick, every number on the board drops by one, and you tap a tile to harvest it for whatever it is worth right now — before it hits zero and cracks. Three cracks and the run is over. That single rule forces relentless triage: a fat 9 is worth the most but has the longest to live, while a lowly 2 is one breath from detonating, so you are constantly deciding whether to grab points or prevent a crack. Harvest tiles in strictly descending order in quick succession and you build a combo multiplier that climbs as high as eight, which rewards greed — but the whole board ticks down together, so hoard the big numbers too long and the small ones blow up beneath your attention. It is a free, one-finger browser game that never lets you rest, and it saves your best score for the inevitable next attempt.
How to play
- Every tile shows a number that is both its point value AND its fuse.
- Each tick, every tile’s number drops by one.
- Tap a tile to harvest it for its current value before it reaches zero and cracks.
- Three cracks end the run. A fresh tile drops in to replace each one you harvest.
Strategy & tips
- Triage constantly: a 9 is worth more but lives longer, while a 2 is about to detonate.
- Harvest strictly-descending values in quick succession to build a combo multiplier up to x8.
- Do not hoard high tiles too long — the whole board ticks down together.
- Sweep up low, short-fuse tiles before they crack, even for a few points.
- Balance greed (chasing combos) against survival (avoiding cracks) every second.
FAQ
What is the twist in Zero Hour?
A tile’s number is both its score and its countdown — value and time are the same thing, so you constantly trade worth against survival.
How does a run end?
When three tiles crack (reach zero before you harvest them), the game is over.
What is the combo multiplier?
Harvesting tiles in strictly descending value back-to-back builds a multiplier up to x8, so chaining a 9 into a 7 into a 5 scores far more than harvesting them in random order.
